Ayurvedic Heritage

The Botanicals That Matter

Saffron threads (Crocus sativus) — the precious Ayurvedic ingredient in our kumkumadi face oil

Saffron

Crocus Sativus

Hand-infused into jojoba — the anchor of the classical Kumkumadi tradition and Ayurveda's Varnya botanical of radiance. The reason this oil is called Sunshine, and the source of its golden-amber color.

Bright orange calendula flowers — the calming botanical in Sunshine face oil

Calendula

Calendula Officinalis

The calming, skin-soothing botanical that softens this formula for sensitive skin — its own golden carotenoids deepen the oil's sunlit color.

Manjistha root (Rubia cordifolia) - Ayurvedic botanical traditionally used for radiant, even-toned skin

Manjistha

Rubia Cordifolia

Ayurveda's classical tone-evening root. Pairs with saffron as a radiance duo: saffron for glow, manjistha for even-looking tone.

Golden jojoba oil in a glass bottle with jojoba seeds — skin-identical moisture in the Rose & Ashwagandha face cream

Jojoba

Simmondsia Chinensis

Jojoba oil is closer to skin's own sebum than any other botanical oil. Absorbs beautifully, never feels heavy: the stable host for the saffron infusion.

How to use

Cleanse (and tone, if you do) — skin can be lightly damp; it helps absorption. Dispense 3–5 drops into the palm of one hand, then rub your palms together gently for a few seconds to warm the oil and release the saffron aroma.

Press your palms into the face — cheeks, forehead, jawline, then neck. Press and hold, don't rub — the classical Ayurvedic technique. Wait 30–60 seconds before makeup or sunscreen.

Under makeup: oil first, wait 60 seconds, then foundation. With water-based serums: serum first, then Sunshine on top. With moisturizer: Sunshine first, then moisturizer to seal.

Best for

Dry, dehydrated, or mature skin wanting daily nourishment and glow. Dull, tired, or uneven-toned skin — this is exactly what saffron and manjistha are for.

Sensitive skin: there are no essential oils in this formula (patch test first, as with any new leave-on product). Oily or breakout-prone skin: use 2–3 drops in the evening, 2–3 times a week.

The morning counterpart to Moonshine — same saffron thread, opposite end of the day.

Full ingredients

Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Crocus Sativus Flower Extract, Squalane, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Rubia Cordifolia Root Extract, Tocopherols.

Six ingredients, nothing else. Anhydrous and preservative-free by design — vitamin E protects the oils, and a water-free formula doesn't need anything more.

Care & warnings

For external use only. Patch test on the inner forearm 24–48 hours before first use. Avoid the eye area, and don't apply to broken, sunburned, or actively inflamed skin. If you're mid-breakout, pause and resume once skin calms.

No essential oils — all ingredients are generally considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding; consult your care provider if uncertain.

Saffron is light- and heat-sensitive: store away from direct light and heat (the amber glass helps). Use the dropper only — never introduce water into the bottle. Jojoba is a shrub seed, not a tree nut; the squalane is olive-derived.
